![]() ![]() Where as possitive qualities are great for mechanical benefits. IMO negative qualities are the most fun if you embrace the RP they can build. The other players did a great job, in character, of reacting to things like "Well, da stew is a little oily from da gun oil, Ma says it build character, i think it just needs more paprika." and "Wanna cookie? they are goatmeal-rasin. So several times runners would come over for dinner before/after a run, and it was great RP to explain exactly why the meal was a little "off" but he never noticed. Also his adopted mom/fixer was a troll, who was a terrible cook, but always wanted to feed her boy and his friends. Never did get rid of his poor sense of taste, but he was an ogre with a metal jaw, so it was cool be able to eat anything and not taste how bad it was. It was massivly satisfying to buy them off once he could afford cyber to replace his damaged meat in the form of cyber eyes, ears, and a olfactory booster. Then took the qualities (don't have the book right in front of me so i can't remeber the exact names) that reduced his hearing, smell, eyesight, and taste. My good friend Bob Iliff has created an editable character sheet form PDF for Shadowrun 5th Edition, based on the character sheet provided in the PDF. At chargen i got him a used cyber skull, no frills, no bells and whistles. ![]() One of my favorite characters suffered massive head truama in his backstory. Want to be a mage who has trouble dealing with spirits for some reason? Maybe he doesn't know why, but spirits just don't like him. Want to be a white hat hacker, someone fighting the corps (or trying to) and helping the masses? theres a neg quality for that. Want to be a ex-ganger? sure low logic can make your character kinda dumb, but uneducated makes them feel like a ganger. ![]() Don't get me wrong, possitive qualities are great for mechanical benefits, but the negative qualities make a character feel real. ![]()
